How is this terrible English?

I understand completly! I myself have had a very similar situation in which my ex thought he knew German well enough to commune with me whether I was speaking German or not. He was gravely mistaken, I got so mad I almost broke up with him. I said "Wo ist meine hunden, Justin?" he replied with "Why do you speak with such stupidity?" I ended up kicking him in the goods and going home alone. Ich hasse dummes leute.
