Peugeot 306 ignition problem?

Hi all. Last night the key in my 306 got stuck in the ignition and would neither turn or pull out. After a little persuasion i finally managed to get the key out and start the engine with a screwdriver. The engine ran fine for a few minutes until the dash lights went dim and the engine stalled followed by a burning smell and a little smoke from under the bonnet. Could also hear a relay clicking before the engine stalled? Anyone know what damage i might have caused? cheers
