Should i have washed my car after i hand cut and polished it?

I bought a cut and polish kit from the supermarket and tried it on my bonnet. I rubbed it around and it seemed to work on a couple of scratches and then i rubbed it off with a cloth. I went to the car wash and washed my bonnet with the water gun and a brush, both of these had soap. there seems to be slight marks on my hood which sort of resemble bubbles but they rub out when i use my finger, is this bad
