Jehovah's Witnesses, letter writing question?

how does letter writing work? im an unbaptized publisher now and i havent tried this yet...do u do letter writing in groups at the kingdom hall or can u do it at home by yourself? also, how do u get the addresses? does the overseer or elder give u the addresses? this is an avenue i'd like to pursue
